Carriers ofSargassumand mechanism for coastal inundation in the Caribbean Sea

چکیده
We identify effective carriers of Sargassum in the Caribbean Sea and describe a mechanism for coastal choking. Revealed from satellite altimetry, are mesoscale eddies (vortices 50-km radius or larger) with coherent material (i.e., fluid) boundaries. These observer-independent—unlike eddy boundaries identified instantaneously closed streamlines altimetric sea-surface height field—and furthermore harbor finite-time attractors networks elastically connected finite-size buoyant “inertial” particles dragged by ocean currents winds, mathematical abstraction rafts. The inundation, using minimal model surface-intensified eddies, is thermal instability presence bottom topography.

Elevation Uncertainty in Coastal Inundation Hazard Assessments
Coastal inundation has been identified as an important natural hazard that affects densely populated and built-up areas (Subcommittee on Disaster Reduction, 2008). Inundation, or coastal flooding, can result from various physical processes, including storm surges, tsunamis, intense precipitation events, and extreme high tides. Such events cause quickly rising water levels. When rapidly rising w...
متن کاملIncorporating DEM Uncertainty in Coastal Inundation Mapping
Coastal managers require reliable spatial data on the extent and timing of potential coastal inundation, particularly in a changing climate. Most sea level rise (SLR) vulnerability assessments are undertaken using the easily implemented bathtub approach, where areas adjacent to the sea and below a given elevation are mapped using a deterministic line dividing potentially inundated from dry area...

this thesis is based upon the works of samuel beckett. one of the greatest writers of contemporary literature. here, i have tried to focus on one of the main themes in becketts works: the search for the real "me" or the real self, which is not only a problem to be solved for beckett man but also for each of us. i have tried to show becketts techniques in approaching this unattainable goal, base...
15 صفحه اولAn Unprecedented Aggregation of Whale Sharks, Rhincodon typus, in Mexican Coastal Waters of the Caribbean Sea
Whale sharks, Rhincodon typus, are often perceived as solitary behemoths that live and feed in the open ocean. To the contrary, evidence is accumulating that they are gregarious and form seasonal aggregations in some coastal waters. One such aggregation occurs annually north of Cabo Catoche, off Isla Holbox on the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico. Here we report a second, much denser aggregation of ...
